Leather furniture

Furniture leather is produced from the skins of cattle. At the same time, cows, in order to avoid stretching on the skin, should not have offspring. Leather processing is done by removing wool and fat from the material, which is then divided into two or three layers. The top layer is considered to be of higher quality, its layer does not exceed 1 mm, and this is what furniture makers use. With an even thickness, it is much stronger than the bottom layer, from which the sole of the shoe is made.

With the introduction of preservatives into the skin — duplication, the wear resistance of the skin increases. Skins become hard after dyeing and drying, and in order to return the skin to softness, it is subjected to mechanical heaviness.

Leather furniture is divided into 4 types:

1. Lacquered — less vulnerable, after impregnation of the skin with dye, it is covered with colored varnish. This type of skin does not require careful care, it is harsh to the touch. Lacquer protects against moisture, sweat and grease.
2. Semi-aniline — perhaps the most sought after of all types of leather, this is when the skin is processed with natural aniline dyes, then a transparent protective layer is applied. This type of leather retains its natural texture and has increased wear resistance.
3. Aniline — is the most unprotected, soft leather. After processing with natural dyes, it is coated with silicone varnish. Due to which the skin repels moisture.
4. Faux — is an alternative to natural leather. Alcantara (artificial suede) does not fade in the sun, is resistant to cuts, thanks to micropores, allows the material to «breathe».

Genuine leather requires careful care. Stains are removed using special cleaners and polishes. Over the years, genuine leather products acquire a patina, which makes them even more beautiful.

The disadvantage of artificial leather is its unnaturalness, the cheaper the material, the more it will be noticeable. When leaving such skin, it is enough to wipe it with a sponge soaked in a water-soap solution.

Of textiles, only synthetics stand out for their high wear resistance, and the life of natural fabrics is not long. Removal of pollution is made by washing of removable covers.

When purchasing leather furniture, do not order a set in separate parts, as the color shades may not match later. When using high-quality leather in the product, if you put your hand on the material, the skin will quickly heat up to body temperature. If there are wrinkles and folds on the skin, let this not serve as a refusal to buy for you, it is these little things that will emphasize the natural beauty of the material.
